Here is a slice of 1970s hi-fi ambition you rarely see: a discrete four-channel integrated amplifier from JVC's Victor line, complete with a built-in quadraphonic decoder and circuitry to handle rival quad formats too. Quad never quite conquered the living room, which is exactly why these are such fun curios now. Run it as a genuine 4-channel amp for surround experiments and CD-4 records, or bridge the channels into a punchier stereo integrated. Heavy, densely built, and unmistakably of its era. A talking-point amplifier for the collector who already owns the usual suspects.

FEATURES & PROS:

  • True 4-Channel Discrete: Four independent amplifier channels for real quadraphonic playback, not faked surround.
  • Built-In Quad Decoder: JVC's own decoding on board, plus provision for competing quad systems of the day.
  • Bridges to Stereo: Combine channel pairs for a more powerful two-channel mode when you are not running quad.
  • Proper 70s Build: Heavy, densely packed, the kind of over-engineering the era did so well.
  • Rare Curio: Quadraphonic gear is uncommon and collectible, a genuine conversation piece.
  • Vintage Input Set: Classic phono, tuner, tape, and aux sources catered for.
