The TEAC Model 3 is the compact analog console from Tascam's golden era, back when home studios were beige, knobs were plentiful, and everything sounded a little warmer than it had any right to. Eight inputs, four subgroups, a submixer and a semi-parametric EQ, all wrapped in that unmistakable early-80s Tascam livery. Producers chase these down today not for clean transparency but for the opposite: run a mix through it and the Model 3 hands back glue, weight and a gentle analog saturation that plug-ins keep trying to fake. A summing box, a tracking desk, a character machine. Small, heavy and quietly brilliant.

FEATURES & PROS:

  • 8 Inputs, 4 Subgroups: a full little routing matrix for tracking, submixing and summing a whole session.
  • 2-Band Semi-Parametric EQ: switchable frequencies for shaping tone with a properly musical hand.
  • Analog Summing Glue: run stems through it for the weight and saturation everyone tries to fake in the box.
  • Built-In Submixer: fold extra sources in without running out of channels mid-session.
  • RCA Buss Routing: patch and re-patch the busses for custom signal paths and creative routing.
  • Classic Tascam Build: heavy metal chassis and that beige 80s charm that looks great on any desk.
  • Character, Not Clean: the whole point. It colours everything it touches, in the best way.
