The Ensoniq DP/4+ is really four effects processors in a single rack, units A, B, C and D, each a complete 24-bit stereo multi-FX in its own right, with four inputs and four outputs you can route in series, parallel or feedback any way you like. Fifty-odd algorithms cover world-class reverbs, choruses, flangers, phasers, delays up to 6.6 seconds, pitch shifting, distortion, Leslie and amp/speaker sims. Often called the poor man's Eventide H3000, owners insist it conjures textures the H3000 cannot. The plus model adds a tuner, amp sims and guitar-friendly I/O. A genuinely deep, characterful effects swiss-army knife.

FEATURES & PROS:

  • Four Processors in One: Units A to D, each a full 24-bit stereo multi-FX, used independently or chained.
  • 4 In, 4 Out: Route signals in series, parallel or feedback for complex chains.
  • 50+ Algorithms: Reverb, chorus, flange, phase, delay, pitch shift, distortion, Leslie and amp sims.
  • Long, Syncable Delays: Up to 6.6 seconds, syncable to MIDI clock or tap tempo.
  • Output Mixing: Fold the four stereo outputs down to one pair to save mixer returns.
  • Guitar-Ready (Plus): Tuner, amp and speaker sims, +4/-10 switch and headphone out.
  • The Poor Man's H3000: Cult character that owners rate well beyond its price.

THE WORD: Vintage Digital calls the DP/4 a powerhouse with four independent 24-bit processors and dozens of algorithms, from world-class reverbs to Leslie and amp sims. Read more at Vintage Digital.
